Hey R2R, I have a weird one here!

My skimmer pump draws 30 watts but 1.1 amps. Noticed this from Apex and confirmed with my Kill-a-watt. It’s a newer BK mini 160, last of the AC models. Cleaned regularly and it’s been like this since new. I just put it together after seeing my apex amp chart drop during a cleaning.

Is there some thing with pumps pulling more amps because they are under load? I checked a 100w heater to make sure killawatt wasn’t wonky and it pulls .83 amp which is exactly what the calculations say it should.

I would think so. Apms would rise under more of a load. Pump temp will also.

Heaters are resistive (1:1) and motors are reactive (around .7)
