Pump issue?

As you can see this is a 10 Gallon tank that I want to convert to a planted tank. I want to use the pump you see. I found this hose and it fits snug into the pump and snug into the outlet into the display. Is this the correct way you’re suppose to install the pump? Should I use silicone? Should hose fit over the threads?

Again I’m a newbie!!

Wet test it. If it's snug and doesn't leak, you should be fine.
