Is it okay to use a pump on a python hose in a saltwater aquarium? Will it clean the tank like it would normally?

I have done that too it works just fine. I just wouldnt put a bunch of sand through your pump.

I was using a mag 7 pump and there was enough pull to gravel vacuum effectively. Beyond that it's about pulling out old water and replacing it with new.

Does it clean the water effectively? Nitrates go down?

A python aquarium cleaner is just a tool to pull water out of the aquarium. If used with the tube attachment, you can sift your sand and clean it that way. The tool itself doesn't reduce nitrates...but, if you had 100ppm nitrates in a 100g of water, then you did a 10% water change, then technically you'd expect your new nitrate testing to be 10% lower, therefore approx 90ppm. So I guess you can say a python helps to lower nitrate levels in that sense.

Got it. Thanks.
