Hello,

I broke about 2-3 pumps of the generic powerheads from Amazon and would like to find that is durable. I only be using it to mix 5g bucket.

I am thinking Hydor 425, any other suggestions?

Thanks!

I broke circulation pump many times, I will give this a try and hope it last atleast 6-9 mos. Thanks!
I've been using mine for a mixing pump to mix up saltwater once a week for the past year, and so far so good :)

I use old return pumps that aren't reliable as return pumps anymore. They are the various sizes of Maxijets. Very cheap and work well for the purpose. They also work well at pumping the water out of the bucket into your tank or wherever it is going, I just attach a hose whenever I am ready move the water somewhere else. Helps cut down on the bucket lugging.

Easiest for mixing saltwater is cheap vibrator-type air pump with (or without) airstone. I tie the airstone to an old cup to weight it down and let it run overnight in a bucket with a heater and cover the bucket. Water is mixed and right temp in the morning!

I will try a Maxi Jet! Thanks everyone!

To me that will definitely end up being in your collection of crap you wish you would not have purchased. I wish you the best. Just an FYI, I have used the same Mag for the past 4 years and still ticking and never needed to be cleaned.

Used ones just in case: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/mag-12-pumps.375445/

I personally wound't use them for any reason. You would be better getting a pump that you could also use as a backup for you DT if that pump does decide to take a crap on you. Just my $0.02

This pump would work out great for your needs and you will have something as a standby just in case.

The thing I have found with Maxi Jets are there a 2 company's selling them Marineland which uses a Chinese motor and Colbalt (if i remember correctly bought out the original Maxi Jet) and uses Italian motors. The Colbalt's are supposed to be the premium Maxi Jet pump.
