Pump out of water

I am new to sumps and I was wondering if you can keep part of the return pump out of the water or if that will not cycle enough water or break to green pump. The reason I am asking is it was way quieter like that than with the pump fully submerged. It is a max flow pump of the helps. Thanks in advance

I would think that the pump needs to be fully submerged for cooling.
Try placing something soft under the pump, like folded up airline tubing ( or larger), baggie full of sand, or a silicone pot holder. I use the ones you find in the housewares sections at box stores ( or amazon).
Make sure it's not touching the sump wall. That will cause noise.
Soft tubing for the first 6" or so out of the pump helps.

Submersible pumps need to be kept underwater. If it's causing vibration noise from being on the bottom of the sump, you can put something under it, or you can suspend the pump off the ground, so that it is "hanging" in the water and not touching anything.

No I just noticed when I had the pink halfway submerged it was much quieter. Thank you guys you Answered my question

If it is still noisey describe what you're hearing and maybe someone can give you some ideas. A loud sump is a pain.

It might not be the dump it might have just been quieter with less water because the pump wasn’t pushing as much water or it is a gurgling noise.

Usually it is the sound of water that is annoying, still, if that's the case you probably have tuning options available to resolve.
