Hello R2R

I am possibly looking to replace two gyre model pumps on my 110 gallon tank. I am looking for enough flow for lps and some sps. I don’t want something too expensive either. I want two pumps that I can put on opposite sides of the tank and turn them on and forget them. They don’t need to be controllable, they just need to get the job done. I have looked at the newer gyre models which are tempting but, they are just pretty expensive. I’ve seen other cheaper models too but am unsure if their reliability. Recommendations?

If you are looking for an old fashion style powerbeads, look at Rossmont. They good, quite and have a wide flow pattern.

Heard negative things about them
The only thing I know about it is that early on they used to use a plastic material for impeller that was not able to take the resistant of water as it was spinning and they got chewed up good. But they replace them for free. I have had one for about 4 years now in my office tank and doing a good job for one in that price range.
But at the end of the day nothing comes close to quality and reliability of Tunze if you are willing to spent a bit more.

Two of these on a 100 gal?

I am a Rossmont and Tunze fan,

Most of the complaints against Rossmont are about their WiFi controller. I love it but some struggle. If you don't need control just skip the controller.

You will probably want a larger pump. You would not want to run a pump at max all the time, plus as your corals fill in keeping a good flow will require a larger pump. I know a larger pump will be more expensive but to maintain 20x to 30x turnover (LPS) you should look for a pump (x2) that will get you 2800 to 4200 gph in its mid to upper ranges.
