Good morning community!
I am setting up a reef tank in the backyard office but the RODI system will be in the house basement (no water at the backyard office and also, I am in Toronto so leaving water outside is not an option with freezing temps). The distance would be about 100-150 ft and the vertical distance about 10 feet. (I can pull the pipe through basement window so it will reduce the height requirements). The tank system is about 125 gallons (redsea 425xl) so I am thinking about 30ish gallons a month change.

I am looking for a pump that can push water that far (not for auto water change but just once a month at the time of monthly maintenance.). I can do this with multiple brute containers (one is basement and one in backyard on wheels) but a water hose from the basement to the backyard office will greatly simplify everything.

with that background :) what pump should I get? I don’t care for the flow rate (even a few gallons per minutes will be fine - only moving 35 gallons once a month) but the pump should be able to push at that distance (150 ft) and height (10ft). Any recommendations that won’t cost an arm and a leg :)

thanks in advance!

I'm using a Reef Octopus Varios 6 to pump water from my mixing station up about 10' vertical and then through a 75' hose to my tank. It seems to do pretty well moving fresh water for ATO and saltwater for water changes. It's not super fast at those lengths though probably 5-8 gallons per minute. I chose this pump since it's also the same as my return pump so if it fails I can do a quick swap while I get a replacement. There is another size bigger, Varios 8, that may work better for you since it needs to pump even further, which I would guess will still maintain an OK flow rate.

I only pump water in to my sump in the stand directly under the tank so that saves me several feet of vertical which probably make a difference.

Thank you @Hectaka
Seems our situations are similar! I will take A look at that pump. And thanks for the tip about the sump. That makes so much sense.
