I am trying to decide which pump to use to supply a cheato reactor and a 15watt uv sterilizer. My sump is not big enough to fit another pump so im trying to utilize one pump for both.

right now i have a Syncra 1.0 to supply a 12” high and 3” wide cheato reactor. There is a 10” rise from pump to reactor.

the uv i ordered recommends 233gph. Im wondering if it would be better to go from pump to uv to cheato then sump or vice versa. Im also curious if i need to upgrade the pump to achieve the recommended gph for the uv.

im also curious how to determine the gph without a control unit

You will need to upgrade the pump to get the GPH for both. You could probably use a Sicce 2.0 and have enough GPH to supply both. I would get a Sicce 3.0 and install shut off valves to control the flow. To check flow you can use a graduated cylinder and calculate it. I would tee the supply line coming from the pump and supply both with the shut off valves on each supply line. You can get push lock shut off valves from either Home Depot or Lowes.

Thank you for the help. Im going to go with the 3.0 just to make sure there is enough power. The shut off valves with the tee is a great idea also for servicing either one at separate time. Appreciate the response
