does your frag setup have high flow with the 9.5? one of the R2R'ers is selling one for pretty cheap so maybe i can grab that if its sufficient, as i am on a budget unfortunately.
also does your mag produce much heat?

Back from the dead. I am researching return pumps for a 75 Gallon DT. I have a Glass Holes 1500 Overflow and the returns will sit at about 4.5' from the 20 Gallon Sump. I am wanting to get something capable of 1000 gph and want to go a bit over board and dial it down if necessary. I have narrowed it down to the Sicce Syncra 4.0 or the RIO 17HF. This thread is fairly old so has anything changed? The RIO is 1/3rd of the cost of the Sicce for about the same flow rate. I am always down for cheaper!
Sicce Syncra are sweet pumps. They are my current "go to" with return pumps. I don't think most DC pumps are reliable enough for returns yet since it's such a critical item. I run a Sicce 3.0 on my 120 sump. Very quiet, runs great. I don't trust the specs on the RIO, that is a lot of performance for the watts.
