pump suggestions

ok i made a list of fish:
-midas blenny
-mccoskers flasher wrasse
-ocellaris clownfish captive bred
-black ice ocellaris clownfish captive bred
-carpenters flasher wrasse
-firefish
-one spot foxface
-tail spot blenny
I want vibrant neon like colors, like the clown fish and wrasse, i'm not too fond of the midas blenny, and i'm not looking to put all these fish in one tank, this is just a list of ideas for one tank, tell me what yall think.

I just found a derasa clam, i want it for the color, but is it a good idea, i am also looking to put coral in my tank so I want to know what kind of fish are compatible with what types of coral, I have no knowledge on coral or what it takes to grow it.

It depends on what kind of animals you are keeping, and the amount of water turnover you want.

For a mixed reef tank, a common water turnover rate is 10-15 times per hour. That means, if you have a tank with 80 gallons of water in it, you'll want a pump that will pump anywhere from 800- 1200 gallons per hour. This will give you that desired turnover rate. Friction inside the plumbing will cut down on the output of the pump some, but as long as you are running all your life support and filtration near the tank and not in, lets say, another room, it shouldn't chip into your turnover rate too much. That being said, oversizing your pump a little bit might not be a bad idea. You can also add things such as wave makers and powerbeads in order to increase flow inside the tank itself.

For a fish only tank, it can be a little less. It depends on the type of fish you keep as well; powerful swimmers such as tangs will like higher rates of flow, while those little clownfish will be happy with next to none. Seahorses are another type of fish that like very little flow.

I hope some of this helped!
