Trying to brainstorm a way to avoid myself the trouble of hauling buckets of RO up three flights of stairs. Not a big deal, I get my steps in doing it, but sometimes I put it off until its almost too late.

I'm living at home for law school, and my room is in the attic (think Harry Potter's bedroom under the staircase, but slightly higher ceiling). The RODI unit is in the basement right now. I was thinking if I put my RO unit under a bathroom sink on the second floor, I might be able to put a pump in the container I collect the clean water and run a line to my room. Head pressure loss would be an issue, but I imagine it wouldn't take a very powerful pump to do it since the line is so thin. I even thought about drilling a bulkhead into my TS 34 sump for maximum laziness. I haven't been able to find a fitting to convert 3/4 PVC to 3/8 RO line.

Anyone see any issues with this? Extra points if you've done it/know of someone who has done it before. Thanks!

3 flights is a fair bit of head pressure. The Neptune PMUP is rated for 14’ but you would need considerably more than that. The small line diameter doesn’t really help that much I don’t think.

Can you just run the output line from the RO unit up to your attic? The main water pressure should be enough.

Or run an input line up to your attic and have the RO up there.

A shure flow diaphragm pump is what you want. High pressure low volume. They come with pressure switches so a float valve will shut it off.
