My large sump is on the same wall as my head board of my master bedroom. I have a vibration hum that is pretty loud from my feed pumps. Is there an easy dampening method to make the vibration go away ? I'm thinking of a short silicone hose piece on the suction side near the bulkhead and on the pressure side of the return pump. The pumps vibrate a lot as they are high output 4500 gph each, there are 2 of them. It also generates kind of a harmonic vibration and echoing through the 96" x 24" x 24" sump.

Has anyone tried this with any great success ? The size I would need is 2" for the suction, and 1 1/2" for the pressure return side.

If you have tried, and its succesful, where is a good source for the quality silicone or other type of rubber you used?

I wrap all my pumps (or place them on it) , with in a silicon glass dryer mat from Target. Cheap and seems to work well.

@14 foot reef - Many people have had good results using a yoga mat as a vibration pad.

As for a source of high-quality plumbing/tubing/flex pvc please see link below;

Good luck and happy reefing!

Which pump? What rpms does it run at? High rpm external pumps can be noise.
The Reeflo Suntail 4000 - 3600 RPM - Yes they are vibrating a lot and the hard plumbing to the large acrylic sump is echoing the hormonic vibration. So thinking i could use some sort of rubber or silicone coupler.

Ive used spa hose from home depot/Menards on the outlet/inlet to give it some flexibility and isolation. More worried that if using a flexible hose not rates for the pressure or vaccum might crush/suck in pipe. I am thinking of a soft silicone hose not handling pressures well. Just make sure the hose is rated for the pressure. I think it will help but have to install and see the results.

I placed in the past on filter pad for dampening

I use a water heater hose but it is so stiff I can't recommend it except that it won't collapse under suction.
