Hello All,

Just measured my Ca and Mg (salifert). I got 385 and 1260, to which I want to boost to 452 and 1412 (functionally, 450 and 1400, measured on hobby kits).

IF boosting these numbers are desirable, and IF a few more measurements in the next few days yield basically the same numbers....

...then it seems to me I should get 29g/5.3tsp of BRS CaCl and 139g/30.5tsp of BRS MgCl (i.e. the dry powder they sell)? Eta: tank is 110L/29gal

Those numbers might be correct. It depends on the size of your tank.

Personally, I would mix up a liquid solution and dose that. Calcium chloride will definitely produce heat when mixed with water. I believe magnesium chloride will too, but it depends on the amount used. It's easier to control that heat when you mix a separate solution then dose that. Additionally, this increase should be made over several days, which might be easier if the solution is a liquid rather than dry powder.
