So with my planned upgrade I'm looking at the extra s2, and from reviews I've seen seems to be solid over the s1, and quiet, is there other recommendations out there for a return pump I'm looking to upgrade to a waterbox frag 60.3 or 80.4. Just trying to figure out what return pumps will be great for flow and quietness

You want 6-10 times turnover per hour. For a 60 gallon I would shoot for around 400-600 gph.

If I was picking a pump for that tank I would choose the
Sicce Syncra Silent 3.0 and turn it down.

Thank you and of course will need to factor in head height. I like the idea of the ability to control the flow as well

Any one have experience with eflux pumps?

This is going in the notebook for reference!! being a newb is pretty awesome, but can be overwhelming at times, but my sons and I love learning!

The eflux pumps used to be pretty good, lately my local fish store has more coming back for issues then he can restock. He said they will no longer be carrying them. Look at the Sicce SDC 6.0 https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/syncra-sdc-6-0-wifi-controllable-pump-530-1450-gph-sicce.html
or the Reef Octopus Varios 4 https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/varios-4-controllable-dc-pump-1050-gph-reef-octopus.html
Both would be great options for your tank. Honestly I love my Sicce SDC 9.0’s I’m running, but the reef octopus varios pumps are a better pump in today’s standards.

Awesome I've been

Reading good things about the reef octopus varios, the sicce wifi seems to have troubles at times unless they fixed that

It seems to only be a issue with the 7’s and I have not heard from anyone that it’s been fixed surprisingly. If it was me I would go with the Reef Octopus Varios honestly. If money was no object go with a Abyzz hands down the best pumps out there but your talking $1300 ish for the cheapest one lol

Yeah 1300 for a pump is a bit too much, I know the vectra's s1 series had issues but the s2's have been getting good reviews, and from some of what I've come across with the varios was some people have been having issues a couple months in, I know that sometimes a piece of equipment can fail because of numerous reasons. I just want something reliable for when I set up the new tank.

I love my varios4 fwiw.
Awesome nonissue with it? Easy to control? I know its capable of connecting to an apex controller (eventually will invest in a controller whether apex or other) also would rather research my options to death and know what I'm getting over not (wish I did more of that when I bought the skimmer on my 20g nano )

Zero issues, super easy to control, no loss of power over time. I also haven’t cleaned it since I installed it 11 months ago, still running like a champ.

Awesome very strong contender then Haha, sounds like the eheim I have on my 20g nano tanks been running over a year and havent really cleaning the return pump , bad on me lol. I have reflected on how i did that tank and with the new one I'm planning I'm taking my time to not make the the same imo mistakes I made with the 20g (ie not dipping corals, no qt etc ) and I'm gunna dip the corals that transfer that was a bit of a side track. I definitely am wanting to start this tank with controller and advanced product control in mind over not
