Just looking for a little help from anyone using this product. I just set mine up, and it appears the TDS meter is not registering or reading.. Looking for a little direction. Thanks in advance Paul C.

Ok, Meter is working. Wasnt reading it correctly. But the unit is far from "low waste" Im running 3+ gallons waste to 1 Good. I replaced all the filters, does it require a "break" in period? Water pressure is 60 psi on the gauge. Anyone with some ideas?

Hey paul i have had nothing but problems with my i first had a 200 gpd unit it got to be so noisy i couldnt standit know more after about 15 dollars in phone calls to the dealer they finally replaced it i then bought the 100 gpd unit i work good for about amonth or two and now it eats membrains so it just still hanging on my bathroom wall good luck

Your waste ratio should be 3:1 to 4:1 if you expect the RO membrane to last. Its the waste ratio that flushes the membrane continiously while in use that keeps the dissolved solids flushed out.
Those are not a very popular system and have serious flaws, the one I looked at had 120v AC connections on top of the unit that should never have been there, everyonne knows you use DC low voltage around water and you seal the connections not just twist nuts. Scared me to look at it!

Yeah, im thinking abut just scraping this unit, and move onto something that uses the same filters that i bought for this unit. Turns out, now it looks like the shut off is messed up. So, after buying the filters, shut off, i haven't saved a nickel. So, i'll turn this from a "help" thread, to a give me some suggestions for a new purchase. Only thing worth mentioning is i am on a well. So new unit will need a booster pump. Thanks guys...

Look no further than Spectrapure, they have a reef quality system for $125 thats almost impossible to beat and I believe they have the Aquatec 8800 boosters in their current February sales flyer at the top of their home page.
SpectraPure Water Purification Products

Be careful when shopping for RO booster pumps, some vendors are selling imported knock offs that do not last as some that sell Aqutecs don't include a power supply or sell you the small supply really intended for the Aquatec 6800, smaller power requirements. Most do not include the pressure switch either so the low price often ends up higher by the time you get it right. I burned up an Aquatec power supply so know first hand the difference.

No but 40 psi is about the bare minimum a membrane will function at with any sort of removal efficiency and delivery rate. The Dow graphs only go down to 40 psi on the bottom end. They rate their membranes GPD and rejection rate at 50 psi but 60-80 psi will give you better results both in GPD and removal or rejection rate.

If you look at the top of the page at www.buckeyefieldsupply.com , you will find a real nice calculator for this purpose. Plug in a membrane size like 50, 75 or 100 GPD then plug in a water temperature and water pressure and you can see how lower pressure drives the GPD you can realistically expect to see down. Cold water also lowers the GPD but on the good side colder water is more dense so treats better and will give you lower RO only TDS or rejection rate. Do not try and warm the water to 77 degrees as it will lower the rejection rate and drive the TDS higher causing shorter DI resin life.

I picked up a 75gpd 4stage with pressure gauge from Pureh20 for about 130 shipped. The only downside to it was the water inlet adapter they gave me didnt fit my water source connection but thats not their fault, 5 more dollars at a hardware store and I was good to go. I dont have a TDS meter yet, but I will be getting one soon but I can tell you visually my tank looks better, corals are looking more vibrant, ricordia and mushrroms are splitting and a frogspawn that I just bought is already splitting after 2 weeks of owning. The filter works well, and is quiet. I have my waste water tube go down the drain so I dont know the ratio of waste to good, but I will check next time I make water. Spectrapure is def the leader, and has one of the best units but there are others to consider as well. My apartment psi is between 55-70 depending on if neighbors are using water or not.
