I made the jump and purchased a reefer 350 with black stand. The purpose of this thread is to get help with equipment purchases / opinions. I plan to keep Mostly zoas, Mushrooms and possibly a few Acros.

Return Pump: Sicce Syncra Silent 4.0

Light:??? I currently have 1 Radion Xr30 G4. Should I sell this and buy an AP700 or Buy another xr30G4.

Skimmer: Can't choose between either NYOS 160 or something else???

Flow: 2 MP40WQD

Salt: Can't choose between Red sea or Red sea Coral pro.

Ato: Tunze osmolator or should i stick with the stock ato?

Doser: I have no idea if one will even be needed.

Is UV necessary? What are the PROS & CONS???

How much pounds of rock / sand will I need. I'd like enough sand for my sand sifting star.

Welcome to R2R! Great choice! I have the same tank and love it!

The care requirements for zoas and mushrooms are basically on the opposite end of the spectrum from Acros. I would do some serious research about what kind of coral you really want to keep and build the tank around that.

Another great choice, I use the 3.5 and love it.

I am a kessil fan, but if you plan to keep sps, I would go with another xr30 with the diffusers, or better yet, a T5 LED hybrid.

I don't run one, but I have heard good things about the NYOS and Reef Octopus.

Flow: 2 MP40WQD
Perfect.

Salt: Can't choose between Red sea or Red sea Coral pro.
I would use the standard red sea salt (blue bucket) - the CP alk is just way too high.

Ato: Tunze osmolator or should i stick with the stock ato?
I have used the stock ato for 3 years with no issues, but the reservoir is kind of small.

Doser: I have no idea if one will even be needed.
I would wait and see if you end up needing one later on.

No, not necessary at all. Here is an article about them. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/uv-sterilization.451275/

I think 1lb per gallon is typically recommended. I think I have a little less than that in my display but another 15-20lbs in the sump. This is the sand I like. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/aragonite-special-grade-dry-sand-40lbs-caribsea.html There is a guide in the description about how many lbs for certain depths. I personally would aim for 1.5-2" max. Keep in mind a sand sifting star will need a pretty mature sandbed to survive.

What other corals would go well with Mushroroms & Zoas?
I would get a T5 Led hybrid but the problem is hanging the light from ceiling.
I haven't really have issues with ICH but I've had a problem with Marine Velvet but I'm sorta iffy on the UV. I had one but I didn't really used it on my old system because there was no space for it in the sump.
If there is another way to mount a t5 LED hybird besides ceiling should I sell my xr30 G4 and get 2 kessils or 2 XR15

Other soft coral and anemones do well with mushrooms and zoas. Also there are quite a bit of lps that thrive under the same conditions. You can check out the reefer 350 link in my signature to get an idea of what I keep with them.

QT is your best friend if you are concerned about parasites, UV can help, but at best is a band-aid imo.

If you really want to go the hybrid route, personally I would get the aquatic life fixture and 3 kessil A360's. If you went with the aquatic life fixture, they make mounting arms that mount to the back of the tank stand.

I'm having some issues. I believe I need another sized barb piecing to connect to Reefer return line hose to the Syncra 4.0

Just soak the hose in hot water first if its too tight. I believe the 350 and 250 run the same size and i use the 4.0 too.

This may so weird but what do you define as hot water lol. Boiling water or regular pipe water.

Yup can be boiled water lol. Thats what i used heh.

The stock ATO will be ok for a while but eventually the build up of salt will make it inoperable. I suggest the Tunze ATO but you will need to rig it where the return line is higher than the ATO container. See the picture of mine and look at the back wall.

I've had my reefer for 3 years and my stock ato works just fine. I do recommend removing the drip valve and just let it run wide open. The only cleaning I do is pour some ro/di over it occasionally lol.

Is that Kalk in your ATO? If so how are you dosing it? I have a Red Sea as well and I’m looking of ways to avoid using th gravity fed ATO for kalk. Thanks in adavance
