I’m not good at maths, looking to add some Purigen to a 14g tank, the directions say 250ml treats 1000gallon, Not sure why it’s in ml as it’s not a liquid, I have the 250ml bottle, the contents weigh around 170g, with rock displacement etc my guess is a have 40litres, would about 17g of Purigen be about right for this size tank?

Hi,

I am with you on all the math in this hobby. Luckily there are a lot of calculators around for us, or just ask and someone will know. You will not need much. Your math is right on. 1 to 1.5 table spoons will be plenty.

250 ml treats 1000 ml (250gallons).

Thanks for the reassurance, swapping back and forth from ml/g and litres/gallons had me scratching my head for a bit.

Anyone know why the Purigen is measured in ml when it’s a solid not a liquid?

You will find a lot of aquarium prod measured in mil and grams. I think since metric is a bit more precise, or it’s a English conspiracy, not sure o_O

Just remember there are a lot of calculators out there. I tell everyone I can to keep this one handy.
