Purigen for hydrogen peroxide byproduct removal

Im using hydrogen peroxide dosing for ich as described on humble fishes website. It says to use activated carbon throughout the 9 week period to remove hydrogen peroxide byproducts.
Is it ok to use purigen instead? Doesn't peroxide regenerate / clean purigen for reuse? It will be absorbing more than it will release back out into the water, right?

I have logged about three thousand peroxide jobs in reefs and not once did we remove anything via filtration

we just added it in the measured dose and watched the algae die

(then it came back lol)

the only byproducts would be cleaved organics / lysed target and nontarget cells perhaps that's what they mean... but peroxide itself doesn't produce byproducts we need to remove. I have no idea if purigen is as effective as common aquarium GAcarbon for removing yellow water causatives, we're about to find out though when the chemists see the post.

and is the application in a running reef tank or a separate qt/hospital tank for you?

2 months straight peroxide dosing/that's awesome/way stronger than we used to attack the worst invasion setups. surely this is done in a quarantine setup and not the whole reef?

Peroxide for ich removal

There's the link to the page with the deets. The op of the post designed the procedure around use in a reef display, not QT or invert/coral removal. And it's important to note that a doser must be used.

my particular scenario is a 90gallom with a few inverts , a few soft coral, and a few fish
So it's a 90 ml dosage (1ml per 5g) spread throughout the day, with a focus on the night (when parasites are often released from cysts and swimming) .im starting with 1ml every 30min in the night, then 3 larger 11ml doses in the day. Up to 2ml and 18ml respectively after one or two weeks.

well at least we know that dose won't harm your cycle bacteria, and it is twice as strong as the 1:10 dose we used on a bazillion algae reefs. HF is really quick at advancing fish biology and disease remediation, he's on the board of jedis for sure. His recommend is worth trying/not flippant for sure and I've seen his very nice list of tolerant fish/also checks out with 11 years of dosing 1:10 rates into reef tanks for algae battles. we didn't count any fish at all as sensitive for the 1:10 dose, but at double strength I'm sure he's found some clues.

for sure he wants carbon filtration to remove lysed cells and organics cleaved up by the 2x strength dose. some pods are likely to die at that rate, but I would not expect any tank crashes at that rate. I had a few reefers who weren't playing around do 1:1 dosing lol for about 5 straight days/still didn't crash the tank even at those extremes.

I suspect he's going for contact time vs initial strength as the disease kill.

I wouldn't write off peroxide for anything in reefing, it's perhaps the top reason my reef vase got to year 17/cheat burning out GHA on the rocks with 35% (added to the rocks outside the tank, not the water) as I wouldn't have figured out how to be algae free without said cheat. if he found a way to battle disease with it, I'd believe that coming from Bobby.

I bet folk's orp drops massively during this time, not that it means anything but it certainly isn't going to run high with all the organics getting karate chopped. he's having to run 2x dose to make up for the instant rendering of peroxide added to a reef tank full of waste vs a clean hospital tank

I do not know what byproducts he may be referring to. I would not assume either is useful.

will GAC help remove the byproducts of frying a billion cells with strong peroxide in the tank/cell leak components?

I never saw yellow water from our copious peroxide runs, only cleaner water in fact/no yellowing

we needed no filtration at all to handle the peroxide runs we did. in the end it wasn't all that effective on algae, though it had a high rate of initial kill for targets and a very very controlled loss rate for the few known sensitive organism groups (lysmata shrimp will never survive any of these doses for example, #1 weakest organism to it)
