I have a 36 gallon tank, I have a bottle of Purigen that is good for 250 gallons, how much purigen do I put in the bag !?

Each 250 mL treats up to 1,000 L (250 US gallons) for up to six months. Exhaustion is indicated by a pronounced discoloration of the beads to dark brown or black.

I've put one of the 100ml bags (says is for up to 100g) in a 24 gallon, you shouldn't have an issue with using as little or as much as you want.

Having more won't hurt. It only absorbs what organics bind to it and discolors when it does. Takes a while before you should need to change again.

Having more may not hurt but how will it help? Seems like you'll wind up with part being exhausted before the entire bag. Thus wasting it.
This is not wasting it. You just leave it in the tank until it's exhausted then you recharge the bag. How is this wasteful? Have you used Purigen?

Having some of it discolored and full with the rest still white isn't a bad thing, it won't release any of it back into the water so there's nothing to worry about. With any amount of any chemical media you use, there will be some exhausted before the rest, not a cause for worry, I've used purigen for a long time.

I have purigen in my tank, 7 months now and it does not look no where near exhausted yet, I added more than they recommended too.

I've used it, and I had very high No3's. It's great stuff. Period!
In the tank as an extra, or on the shelf in case.

It's not tightly packed, having more in a bag will not harm your tank, it will just last longer, it will help clear cloudy water and will help lower No3 levels...AND...it can be re-charged after it is exhausted (many youtube vids) although I just throw it away...I've used it in my FW tanks for a couple years and I hung a bag where the water in my sump on marine tank cascades over into center section of sump. Just make sure it does not bounce against any rock or sharp edges as it will tear and dump the little pellets (ask me how I know!!) :)

Purigen works. I take my bag out when I do a water change and swish it around in the water I just removed to keep sediment from building up. IME, it lasts a long time. Good luck!
