So right now I'm running two reactors. One carbon and the other gfo. And was wondering what anyone's opinion was about purigen. Likes, dislikes. How the run it and so on.

Love purigen used it for years in all my tanks dose great job in removing organics . another like is Polly filter takes some serious crap out but don't run it non stop might work to well .

Do you sock it? Or use a reactor?

I run the brs dual reactor with matrix carbon and phosguard in one with purigen in the other also run a two little fish 150 with matrix biological media in it. Love seachem products even use salinity salt lol.

So for those who use about how long does it last for you and how many recharges do u get out of it?

FWIW, I think people may have a hard time gauging that as the organic levels in the water can be hard to judge, so knowing when it is depleted and/or of less than optimal capacity will require some guesswork (like it does with GAC).

I use Seagel and Purigen in a custom made filter floss pad cut to the width of my sump and sewn shut by hand. I put it after my bubble trap and all water flows through it. I change it every 2 months and just throw it out and sew a new one. I don't care about renewing it or cleaning the floss. Too much time wasted for the money and I don't like the idea of bleaching anything that is going back in my tank. I really like it and my water is crystal clear!

Can you post a pic of it in your sump for me please.

True
I guess what I was trying to ask is does it seem that people are continuing to be able to recharge this long term or does it become signiciantly weaker after a recharge or 2 and need replacement.

I believe on the package it states you can recharge it multiple times. I'm not at home or I would check for you. I'm not into bleaching things that I put in my tank. I buy the 250ml at $15 and divide it in thirds. It will last me 6 months.

In my opinion if you have a skimmer there is no need for the stuff. I ran a bag of it and it shut down my skimmer. I think it is great for smaller tanks where a skimmer is not used.
