Possibly. You could also improve your flow, filtration, lighting adjustments, scale of livestock, etc. Just my two cents but this type of thing can sometimes be a much bigger issue that most will throw chemicals at; which is nothing more than a bandaid.
Look at beefing up nutrient export, making sure you've got good flow. And yes the obvious one is try cutting back on feeding or try switching foods. If you do a lot of pellets, try frozen instead.
Looks like a mix of diatoms and cyano or spirulina. diatoms will go away on their own. you need to identify if you have cyano or spirulina as the cures are different. check out this thread:
