Need help! I don’t know what this is growing on the side of a blue lighting Aussie lord coral frag. Had this for 2 months now. It’s recently been not looking good and this purple growth which I thought was just some coralline algae is now developing a cone with a hole in it. Any ideas? New reefer.

Likely some sort of sponge. Try taking it out and scraping it off

That acan isn’t looking too hot either my friend. Was there skeleton showing on the drag when you purchased it?

Sounds good, I will try that. Ya it’s been struggling but didn’t look like that when I got it. I had an aiptasia growing in the side too that I was able to kill. It started looking like this shortly after I noticed the aiptasia but has been like this now for a few weeks. I got 4 other corals at the same time and they are doing great. Water parameters are all good too so I don’t know?

If possible list mag calc and dkh, also any idea how much par it’s getting?
Aiptasia has a sting I’m pretty sure so that could be what was annoying the acan.

Yup, these do better for me in lower light locations.

No prob. Just checked everything. Salinity is 1.025, Alk 8.6, mag 1310, calc 450, ph 8.1. Not sure on par but my light isn’t super powerful. It’s a fluval marine reef 3.0. From what I’ve read it can get about a par of 390 at 3” and drops to 100ish at 12”. I have the coral at prob 14” deep.
