Purple cover on the zoanthide colony

hi - I recently acquired this zoanthid colony and it has this purple blanket like cover - is this part of the coral? Something else? Thanks for your help!

One thing I should mention is that my anemone decided to hang out around that area for a couple days - so not sure if that has anything to do with that
 
Looks like a bad case of cyanobacteria. Try to siphon it off
 
So new here, and not trying to hi-jack the thread. But I have a similar problem.. What's a good way to keep this from coming back?
I have this growing on my substrate & life rock. Nothing out of the ordinary on my water readings. And I just cut down light from 15hrs to 10hrs, but still comes back full-force.
