Oh yeah, Hi everyone.

Mine went from brown to purple when I switched to 14k DE hqi phoenix and put them in the sandbed.

If you were to get a PAR meter you would find that a 150w lamp at 18" below the lamp will only be in the 200PAR or less range unless the lamp is fairly new(6weeks or less). You might consider jumping to a 250w lamp/ballast system. That would bring PAR closer to 400.

I use the Apogee PAR meter.(The local club has one) Check with your club and local stores.

This is a mapout of my tank I use 250 watt hqi with 6 t5 actinic

Well, I tried a 10K bulb as someone suggested (a $20 Ebay-type). The PDs looked just as brown. Everything else looked bland and washed-out. I just ordered a Phoenix 14K. We'll see what that does.

I bought a 36 watt HO T5 fixture (10K and actinic) to supplement my 150w HQI. Under just the actinic lighting, my purple deaths actually look purple! I also changed bulbs from a Radium to a Phoenix 14K. Better color and brighter light than the Radium, but my PDs are still brown under it.

Patience....it won't change in a day.
