Has anyone ever seen their purple death turn brownish? Two separate frags are starting to turn. One is on the bottom of my tank and the other is half way up. My lighting is a 20k 250w MH.

There have been a few of these problems over the last few months....I don't think anybody has found an answer.....I personally have never seen it in any of my frags.....

Quote form whodah:
"Uber high light, high flow, low nutrient tank = tiny and OK looking ~3/16"

medium light, medium flow, low nutrient tank = gorgeous looking and medium in size ~3/8"

low light, low flow, high nutrient tank = large n' ugly (brown) ~1/2"

That's my experience!"

I have 2 different frags in my frag tank, both are in nearly the exact same stop. One is the brightest purple I have ever seen (no joke these are eye popping) but the other frag is just purple... I honestly do not know what would cause the variation with being only 2" apart from each other.

I just got my frag from AZ the other day and when they opened up to say hellp they are the most awesome looking purple! I'll try and get pics, but AZ knows how to keep them purdy! :D

Thanks Rev.....

I have had mine under many different conditions High flow, low flow, high light, low light and never seen any Browning of them at all......I would say I have a nutrient low tank with the algae I'm battling but I can honestly say what would cause it.....

I also got mine from Azurel and they were very bright purple when I got them. He's definitely doing something right! Now they are not as bright but still look good IMO. I have mine on the bottom of my tank in high flow. They are under 2-250 watt 14k with t5 actinic's. Here's a pic of when I first got them.

And this is what they look like now.

I judst got a single polyp & it hasn't opened yet. Should I be worried? I've got it in the sandbed right now. I have a SeaSwirl, so the tank is covered, as far as flow. It's reallly tiny too.

JGoslee, mine right now look like yours do right now as well. Nothing to write home about but still nice :)

PP- How long have you had it? I got a polyp, didn't open and I ended up losing it after a few days. Got a second polyp from someone and it has taken off and looks great.

Here's my before/after

The NG is really looking good and has 2 babies. The PD lost some of the WOW factor but still looks nice. When I frag it I might try to put it in other area's of the tank to see if I can get the color back.

Glad yours opened, I'm suprised it did after being closed for that long.

The one I got to survive was tiny also, I have had mine maybe 3 or 4 months and it has evolved into how it looks in the picture.
