7:01PM Sunday evening.

Ordered a Exquiste Purple Fire Fish and Yellow Watchman Goby to put through quarantine together. Only the Fire Fish arrived, so I called another local store and found one in stock. Fire Fish went in QT on Sunday afternoon, Goby on Monday. Woke up this morning and noticed a white spider web material on inside of one of the PVC pipes. Assumed it was moucous from goby and Fire Fish had gotten too close to the cocoon. I have never had a goby before and unsure of what to expect. Came home this evening and now it appears to be white spots forming on the Firefish. Started dosing Copper Safe on Monday at half of the recommended dosage. The Goby looks fine.

That firefish has a nasty infection on its head in the second photo. I’d treat with spectrogram (or kanaplex and furan 2) in quarantine with copper to cure the ich and the bacterial infection. Follow the dosing instructions on both to a T including the water changes.

Be sure you have a bubbler and a powerhead breaking the surface for agitation (oxygenation) and an ammonia alert badge to monitor bacteria. I’d buy some Fritz turbostart 9000 or a few bottles of BioSpira to seed this tank as the meds may take a toll on the beneficial bacteria and thus the proper nitrogen cycle.

Sea Chem Copper Test just taken to get updated stats. Bubbler placed in tank. Running a Marine Land 150 with no carbon. Just two cut sponges inside to act as filter. 80.0 degrees and 1.024.

I placed a bag of Fluvall Bio Media that had been sitting in my DT sump for month to seed the QT. Ammonia badge is in place.

Thank you for your assistance.

Please do yourself a favor and get a Hanna copper checker... Seachem was ok for me measuring Cupramine but I’m past half way through a copper cycle and SOOO glad I have the digital readout

And I hope everything works out for you

Is that substrate underneath the PVC? Not sure but they might absorb some of the copper too
