My pff seems to stay in the rock except for feeding...no one is bothering him, he looks good and eats like "no tomorrow" and than seems to retreat for most of the day...could I be overfeeding?...I tend to do that with a great variety of food...is 1X/d better than 2 and let them (hopefully) pick around the rest of the day?...also, I did change my pumps some, could he just be getting used to the new flow...I actually lowered it down some... Thanks

My firefish hid for a while after getting him and still hides for a day or two randomly before coming back out. They are shy fish for the most part. How long have you had him? I would give him time, as long as he's eating I'm sure he will come around :) they always have there safe haven. Which the feel more secure in. I also only feed 1x a day

Our fire fish hid for the first few weeks we got him too. Eventually he started coming out a little more, usually everyday he would come out for feeding time. I think one of the other fish scared him and then we didn't see him for almost 2 weeks and I thought he was a goner! But he appeared again :)

About 2 weeks in my DT...I think that I will cut back to 1X a day feeding...

Wgat are the other fish in the tank? Sometimes there are surprising interactions between some species, that one might not expect.

Also, I would not cut back on feedings. Firefish don't really pick at foods from the substrate, so cutting back won't really motivate it to come out too much. In fact, the more it associates seeing you with receiving food, the more it will be out when you are around.
