I previously owned a Bangaii Cardinalfish in my 65G shallow tank and ended up selling him because he wasn't active at all. My LFS has a great sale on the Purple Firefish but I was wondering if they have the same behavior.

Thanks!

Firefish wil l be more visable in my experience but they are also very delicate and jumpers. the longest I kept one was eight months. the bangais are much easier to keep. If they sale is that good I would try a couple firefish. They are prettier and more comfortable in groups

Okay, sounds good. The sale is two Purple Firefish for $40. And I plan on adding a Royal Gramma eventually, I'm also considered on their compatibility. My tank is 65G shallow that is four feet long.

Two purple firefish won't last long together. You will end up with 1 eventually.

Royal gramma is much more aggressive. But yhey inhabit different areas. In a tank that big i would think it could work. :-)

I was under the impression they are group fish. Do mean cuz there are two rather than a bunch or that one is always better?

Do you think that's a good price for two Purple Firefish?

They will normally fight until there's only one left. A single will usually school with regular firefish.

Can't really keep 2 of the purple firefish unless they are a mated pair...very peaceful fish, but very territorial towards its own kind.

That's a shame. Crossing them off the list. :(

Ive had great luck with my firefish, they were first in the tank and are always out and active. I have 3 and they stay together in a group.

Firefish will pr up and eventually kill any not in their pr. There is also no easy way to determine their gender, and they are all aggressive toward consexuals. If you can find a pr in a dealer's tank they will cohabitate peaceful for a few years.

Royal grammas would make a fine addition to them. Royal grammas pick a cave and will defend it, but other than that are quite peaceful.
