I bought this sea fan about a week ago and it has been excreting this mucus every night since I got it. Every morning I have to go in with a toothbrush and remove it because it is stuck to just about everything in the tank. Oddly, this only happens during the night, I don't see any coming off during the day. As you can see, the polyps are opening and it seems healthy otherwise. It is in medium/high flow and medium light. I feed reef chili and amino acids [sparingly].
Does it react this way if it gets stung? It is sorta close to a chalice coral but I've never seen sweepers during the night. The tank in only 6 weeks old. Is it just ****** off to be in a new tank? What gives?
IM 14 gallon
Temp: 77-79 [controlled]
Salinity: 34 ppt
Ph: 8.1
Alkalinity: 8.5
Calcium: 480
Magnesium: 1500
Nitrate: 5 ppm
Phosphate: 0
