Well I got a frag of these a few weeks ago and it was open pretty good for a week or so then it started to not open up all the way, and now it isnt opening at all. I have done some Iodine dips with lugols and all but not back to back days. It kind of looks likes zoo pox so I am thinking about doing some more Iodine dips. I owuld inject it if I had gotten the syrenges but I havent got them yet. Any ways what should I do? how long should I dip, what is the ratio of water to iodine? how many days should I do this before I give the polyp a rest? Please help... I dont mean to beg but.... well you all understand.

Tank parameters are all good
dkh 9
nitrites 0
ates0
ammonia 0
sp 1.026
I dont know what else you would like but I checked this as well. I am a bit confused
I dont have pics My camera wont zoom in on the single polyp with out being a really fuzzy pic.

Pics will def help cuz sometimes zoas just close up and they will open back up in a few days, weeks or months.

I dont know if you usually have your salinity there but in my tank I keep it around 1.024-1.025. If it gets any higher they tend to close up. If my polyps ever close up thats the first thing I check, my salinity.

This same scenario has happened to me countless times. The solution for me has been Furan 2. I swear by the stuff. Iodine is not going to take the pox away and is likely just stressing it out more @ this point. Do a furan 2 dip for 15 min a day for 3 days then let it rest for a few days. 1 packet of furan per 2 cups tank water is what i use. This method is not guaranteed but has worked for me when i needed it and in fact has saved purple hornets before too :)

My salinity has always been maintained at 1.026 and I have had great success with it. It was that way when I introduced the polyp and it was happy at first. Ill have to look closer. I am going to start the Furan 2 dips today I think I didnt dip in Iodine last night because I got side tracked. It is for sure something irritating the polyp. Sorry for not having a picture. I just cannot get a good clear on e that would help anyone look at the polyp, Thanks for the help Ill let you all know how this project goes.

If you loose it I will get you another one. I hope you are able to save it. I don't know what would have caused it. The rest of mine have new babies.

BTW, I've had the same problem. I've had mine for a month and I'm not happy with them at all.

Oh I am happy with it when it is open dont get me wrong, but it isnt happy at all. I did the first furan dip this morning.

Bannshy, hey man thanks, I really hope that I can save it. I am very hopefull. I just got you a frag of the magicians fragged last night. THey are pretty good growers.
