Purple Hornets!

it shouldn't be too long before these guys are around more... give it another 6-12 months and they will be decently priced... out of the 30+ polyps I have, I'd let go of about 20+ polyps locally and nationally so there should be more to go around... they are decent growers.... before they were called Purple Horents, I already let go of about 10-12 frags... I'm looking forward to seeing second, third, and fourth gen from my stock... I wish Matt all the luck on growing these guys... I started his frag with a polyp and a nub... few weeks later, his frag had 4 polyps... :)

this guy rules ^

As beautiful as they are and high priced for the time stated I'm wondering how hardy they are. I'm sure we're all familiar with the agony of some of our prized zoas melting for no reason or closed up never to want to open again. Always like see a good growth rate from posts on here of 2 to 9 or more growing. Good chance soon I'll own one in the 6-12 months.

i found a rock with a few the other day at the lfs. still has some coloring up to do. looks close though?

I think they are pretty nice, but hope to also get the price down on them some day. The ebay thing got out of hand looked like for a time there. Haven't checked it out lately so don't know if the PH are still going on there for the high price they were demanding. Seems all the zoas go for very high prices on ebay. Most sellers on there say 'if the bidders want to pay that price I will sell it to them for that price'. lol, pple. 5 polyps for $1000.

The only corals that sell for high prices on ebay are the ones that have the hype behind them... I just sold a two frags as a pack that retailed for about $60 total for $14.99 on ebay.

I still put a few of my overstock on there every now an again, but it is not profitable at all and i don't do it often.

The PHs do have the hype thats for sure.

Yeah I saw some PRPE with a dark black face and more of a red than pink skirt (maybe they weren't PRPE?) on ebay a week or so ago that I wanted to get, and they shot up to over $350 with like $50 shipping in the last minutes :oh:

They were nice though. I wish I could find someone not on ebay selling them.

Yeah still going for a lot. Reef pets seems to be getting some of the highest prices. $100-200/polyp. Crazy...

Wow, and I to think I got a 3polyp frag of it for a small frag of war coral for trade. Maybe I should trade for more then resell :)
