Hello all,

New member here…running a cycled Fluval 13.5 without any modification (about to do some).

I have a bunch of blue/purple crystals forming on my live rock, and I’m not sure if it’s detritus from my snails or if it’s some form of algae…

Im sure this is something normal, but just wanted to check. I have a small Darwin clownfish and a fire fish goby to go along with 4 cerith, 2 astrea, 2 nassatius, and 1 Trochas.

Water parameters are all normal and stable, and have especially been keeping an eye on Ammonia and Nitrites for sure.

thoughts?

-Mike

My first thought is coraline algae, is it hard to the touch? If it doesn't blow off or come off easily then it's coraline algae and that's good, signs of a tank maturing.

thanks for the reply. It is quite hard yes, had to use my fingernail to chip off one of the small crystals. I thought it might be, but didn’t know it was crystalline in formation.
