Purple Queen Anthias

I just bought three purple queen anthia's from sea dwelling creatures and they told me that they were eating mysis and brine shrimp. i felt that was BS because when i offered that to them in quarantine for almost a week and they wouldn't touch them. but most places trying to sell fish will tell you the fish ate cheesesteaks to get them out the door. after a week of trying the food they said they fed them i decided to do some research on what people are having success with. none of them had success with mysis and brine in the beginning . so i tried live trigger pods and they started eating them right away. then i switched them over to frozen cyclops. next ill try cyclopeze since they are a tad bigger. but there eating thank god! good luck with yours everyone. they're a gorgeous species and worth the sweat

It's to so much the food but the size IMO, chop up the mysis real small. They also like their food moving really fast in the current. I've even had them eating tiny NLS pellets in the past.

To see purple queen Anthias eat PE mysis would be a site to see. That's a large food item for them. They are not hard fish to get to eat but really difficult to get to eat anything other than really tiny stuff. They normally end up starving really slowly and just withering away cause most aren't willing to feed them enough times per day to keep them fed well on tiny specs of food. If you can start them on nutrimar ova and ween them onto some chopped up mysis along with some tiny pellets that would be a good start. Good luck with them.

^^
I completely agree with this. I had some a while back, then decided to go a different route with fish and traded them off. I actually found that live brine entices them to eat as well. When I had them, I was feeding them at least 3x/day.
