I have some clams that I need to get rid of. A 6-7" deresa, a 10-12" snakeskin squamosa and a 8" purple squamosa. These purple squamosas haven't been available for years and had limited availability when they were actually around. I have no idea what to price this guy at because there is nothing online to compare it to. I paid $400 when he was 3" about 5 years ago, but back then, I could have bought 100 of them if I wanted. What's this guy worth? This might be the only purple squamosa for sale in the US?

it's super healthy, looks almost like it's gaping in this picture but that's only because I moved him while cleaning the glass and it's his way of protesting a picture. Here's a pic of the whole tank too. Sad to see the tank going away:(

I would have to see the purple T. Squamosa from top-down. That looks like a blue specimen to me - very much a holy-grail type clam for most people.

I got an offer for $5k for a 13" Blue T. Squamosa of mine. This was local from a rich dude who does not really value money and probably would have killed it. I do not think that this is a market price, but I have no idea what is. I did not sell it since I would have likely condemned it to death.

In some ways, larger clams are worth less than smaller ones... just too few people with room to house them. I have been given a 10" Shell T. Deresa because the dude could not sell it and I was one of the few that could even keep it alive. Clams that do not fit into 5 gallon buckets are hard to move unless they are really special. Purple T. Squamosa could be one of these. Blue T. Squamosa are one of these too. 8" is not too bad since there are people who still have room for these.

If you really want to know what it is worth, then sell it auction and let the bidders decide.

Here is a photo of mine a few years ago when they could both inhabit this space. Now, the smaller one takes up the entire area by it's self and is a good 11 inches. The larger one was the one that the guy REALLY wanted to buy.

This one is more of a purple than a blue, but in my mind, they should hold similar value. I will get a top down pic too. It's a really beautiful clam, someone is going to end up very happy with it.
