Hi,

I have 2 fish that had terrible marine velvet, they were completely covered. I quarantine them for 30 days in copper power at 2.0 using Hannah tester. The purple tang looked like she was scared with brown spots on her. Now they both have been placed in a new 20 gallon long with new HOB running filters with carbon, power head, and air stone for the last week. Salinity is 1.026 with Hannah checker, trace of ammonia but doing daily water changes, 78 degrees.

most of the brown spots cleared up but still looks like she is getting them more on her face. I see no dusting on her or the fox face, no white spots, no flashing, eating normal.
Thoughts?

Just guessing here, stress or beginning of HLLE.

What are you feeding?

HLLE is my first guess too, 30 days in therapeutic copper should do it. Good water quality and diet helps

Thanks, I’ll keep an eye on her. Thankfully they never made it to my display tank. I put them in observation on a Saturday and ended up having to fly out for work on Sunday. Got home Friday night and the velvet was horrible. Thanks to this forum I quarantine all inverts, coral, and fish.

+1 for HLLE My tang got it really bad but just keep feeding and he will do fine. I was soaking the nori sheets in Selcon :)
