Purple Tang dorsal fin damage?

Hey,

so I just picked up this purple tang and have him in my QT with a pair of Rhomboid wrasses. This is day 2. I hooked up my light fixture today and noticed on his top fin, the very tips of his skeleton are showing. You can only notice it in certain lighting. They look like little white barbs. I took a couple pictures and zoomed in. I haven’t started dosing anything to the water as I like to get the fish eating first.

meds on hand - copper power
Metroplex, focus, suflaplex, kanaplex, neoplex, general cure, prazipro, methylene blue and furan 2.

please let me know if you guys think this is anything and the correct course of action.

I wouldnt be worried. That kind of damage is pretty common during collection/shipping. Just monitor it and make sure it doesnt get worse.

6 weeks from now that will be an afterthought. if fed well and the water quality is on point they bounce back very quickly

If hes been in the qt tank for a few days and is eating, out and about with no signs of stress then yes you can start copper.

Thanks! He Keeps chasing the wrasses around. Gonna give it another day and if it keeps up I’ll put a divider in… they’re all going into a 120 gallon tank.

So I ended up putting an egg crate divider in. Is that normal for the tang to bully the rhomboids into hiding? It’s a 20 gallon long tang but I figured since they were different species they would be good. I hope this isn’t a taste of what’s to come in my display. I might add the wrasses first and let them settle for a few weeks the. Add the purple. I have a mimic chocolate tang and a yellow eye kole tang already in my DT. So the purple will have other issues. The mirror trick worked when I added the chocolate to my tank with the Kole.

Unfortunately he’s now dealing with lympho on his lower fins. I’m currently at day 8 of 2.0 ppm copper power. He eats like a pig and his dorsal fin is fully healed. Now to wait out the lympho on his lower fins.
