Hello, i just Got this purple tang delivered, and it is eating although hiding. I noticed some gray Lines on it and possibly Also ich, although not sure

here is a video of it.

Hard to see if there is any ich, but since it is in qt it wouldn’t hurt to treat with copper.
The grey lines by the eye looks like early head and lateral line erosion, often brought on by poor diet and water quality.

Will this affect other fish, and is it treatable?

Excellent feeding, excellent water quality - avoid activated carbon that not pure/poor quality. What are you using to treat in QT? I'm assuming thats a clay pot? - if so - 1) certain things can be leached into the water from it and 2) if you're using medication - it can potentially lower the levels. Best of luck with your new fish. Unfortunately - I cannot see the video very clearly to comment on ICH

Tough to see, the video was really Downsized and I couldn’t enlarge it enough to tell if there is ich or not.
The gray lines may be the start of head and lateral line erosion ( I can see that in the video).
Do you have a quarantine process you are going to follow?

Currently planning 3 weeks of copper, prazipro treatment and then 1-2 weeks of observation.

very sad to see this getting delivered in this shape as it was quiet an expensive fish, and it does not look happy either.

The condition appears to be worsening, a new line has now appeared.

I will let other experts weigh in - this looks like an extremely small purple tang - they change color vs light conditions etc. I would not be concerned with this picture - unless what you're seeing is not pointed out. You can put an arrow on your photo - to show what you're concerned about?

Thanks - that line - is IMHO - not significant for any known disease - except time of day.

okey that makes sense! Thank you for your reply, I did not know that.

The mid area is normal but fish is slightly underweight and lateral line erosion has developed and giving the fish GOOD water quality and diet will be essential to revovery.
For clearer video, if you can, remove clay pot and take new pics/video under white lighting
What foods are you feeding ?
How did you acclimate the fish and for how long?

As for water quality, If they shipped a fish in this condition, it questions the facility it came from.

I am currently feeding live baby Artemia, algae strips, frozen mysis. it eats a lot.
i acclimated the fish for 1 hour.

It came from whitecorals.com
First time ordering from there, and probably also my last.

Ok, good. Do add to its diet. Its a herbivore but does require fats-aminos-vitamins to its diet.
Recommended are :

-Spirulina brine shrimp
- LRS Herbivore diet
- mysis shrimp
- small plankton
- Nori seaweed basted with garlic extract
- Hikari Marine cuisine
- Formula 2 flake and frozen
- Hikari veggie marine

Add selcon vitamins to the foods 2-3X per week and on alternating days, garlic extract for stamina and immunity health

Great info, i Will make sure to Add that. Do you recommend any Premium/top tier food for other fish such as regal Angel, clownfish/wrasse/goby and corals?

It appears to have one large White spot which i assume is flukes. I Will treat with gdex esha

Flukes are typically not really visible - you can sometimes see the damage they cause, but the flukes themselves won't be visible. In addition, one fluke (although can certainly multiply into more over time) is not an immediate health issue.

Your fish may well have flukes, but the one large white spot isn't a symptom of that.

I have been treating it in copper for 2 weeks now. I can still see a small white spot on it, in a different spot than before i Think.

What could this be? I have medicine to treat flukes.

Hi, I went back and looked at the pictures and video - they just are not clear enough for me to even make a guess at what is going on. If you can get better images, that would help. Otherwise, as I mentioned, the fish may well have flukes, so you should treat with praziquantel 2 times, 8 days apart after the copper treatment is done.

Is the fish still eating well?
Is it gaining any weight?

Jay
