need help purple tang is has been fighting it for a while and it looks better than before less fleshy and more like a gray scab

Can you post a picture? Minor HLLE can go away, usually after you move the fish to a different tank.

I've had 2 purple tang rescues in my time reefing. both had fairly advanced HLLE and both had full recoveries. take care of that water, minimize external stress and feed high quality food. 2 months later you'll notice marked improvement.
