Purple Tang hiding and some spots?

Hey guys,

So a a little worried about my purple tang he is usually really happy and swimming around in search of food to fill his bottomless stomach but i have noticed lately he has been chilling in either the rock arch or in the cave and on closer inspection there appears to be a couple of white markings on him.

Am i being pedantic or is there something wrong?

He was not quarantined though?

Oh, no he wasn’t. :/ so its probably ich? Is there anyway at all to treat him in the DT

There is no reef safe treatment.

Best thing to do is move all fish to QT and treat with copper or CP (depending on what fish you have) and allow DT to be fallow for 76 days.

This is kind of an "to each their own" thing when it comes to quarantine and how to treat ich. However, personally, I find that sometimes stressing them out by catching and moving them makes it worse. (Again this is my personal opinion and my fish) I've had a few of my fish break out with spots on them every now and than, and I usually just let them fight it off themselves. That being said, I'm talking about fish I have had for a year now that are very healthy and still eating. If your fish stops eating, or is acting really out of character I highly recommend following what HotRocks told you to do.

If it is ich, have you thought about ich management? My tank obtained ich from my blue hippo (ich magnets). If you quarantine a blue hippo, don’t be surprised if it appears back in the DT.
since then, I’ve been managing ich. I feed more often and always add Selcon to the food. And not to mention the nouri.
This is my personal experience, it’s been working for me.

Could be Ich or it could be early velvet. One of the symptoms of velvet is "hiding" which is a response to bright light. So here's a few links for you:
