I've had this purple tang in QT for about a week. It's been active and eating up until today, when I noticed it swimming/struggling at the bottom of the tank, listing on its side, etc.
it was in 1.017 salinity water and 0.25 copper at the fish store
My QT is at 1.015, and I increased the cupramine dose to the recommended 0.50 (checked with a hanna) the day before yesterday, along with adding a dose of prazipro.
The tank is a 20gal long with a sponge filter and rocks that had been in my sump for several months. Hob filter (only sponge media) at one end and a powerhead at the other.
I'm worried that either the salinity is too low, the copper is too high, the prazi is too much, or a combination of all three of these things.
What do I do? I'm considering a water change with 1.015 water without copper/prazi, to reduce the concentration of those things...
ich? I would try the tank transfer method. No stress for the fish. I tried copper at first fish was breathing hard and I switch to the tank transfer method fish was eating and happy. Try to get 2 29 gallon tank it’s a lot of work but it works I tried it.I've had this purple tang in QT for about a week.
