This is not ich Iv been treating him for ich with formalin. The ich has gone away but he’s gotten these spots all over him they look like scars there is no ammonia or nitrates Iv been doing 50% water changes every other day as needed with formlin I’m wondering if the spots came from that or it is somthing non medicated related! Please help only have 4 days left of treatment once again to my eyes this doesn’t look like ich.these were the best photos I could get

How has he been behaving? Is he active? Is he eating well?
Yes, he eats good anything I put in I swear he’s a garage can haha, it looks to be more like scars I don’t know if that’s is from the formlin.

He also been acting fine he will get a little shy when you walk up but still will come out and seems good
Formalin is not a very effective treatment for marine ich. What dose are you using?
The light colored blanched areas can often be a skin reaction to ich trophonts.

I was doing 1ml per 10 gallons/10 day treatment/water change every other day, I wanted to try this method bc I had heard it from tidal gardens. Let me know more I would love to hear people’s opinions

That's a pretty standard old school formalin dose, around 30 ppm, presuming you are using pure formalin to start with (37% formaldehyde gas in water and methanol). You need to aerate well when dosing this. Trouble is, it isn't always effective against marine ich. It seems to work well on FW ich.

You think that the scars are still ich then? Hard to identify them as ich I guess copper treatment is going to be what I have to do ?

Well, maybe not. I’d hate you to go through all that for something that isn’t a positive diagnosis. You could watch the spots, or even take a picture of them to use as a reference. Then, after 24 and 48 hours look at them. If they haven’t moved, and haven’t changed in numbers, it isn’t an active ich infection.

ImO I think this could be a skin reaction to formaldehyde/formic acid. Formic acid is formaldehyde that is oxidized. There would be some of both. I agree sometimes it doesn't hurt to wait. To be clear did it not have these before formaldehyde? Were these scars on same spots as ich?

That’s what I believe it was he still has ich and I just started a copper treatment but the scars went away after I stopped and cleaned out formalin
