10-4. Got the first addition of cupramine into the tank today. I will add more copper and kanaplex tomorrow morning. I am leaving town for thanksgiving. I am thinking about getting the copper level to 0.2 tomorrow then increase it when I come home Friday. What do y'all think

Get it to 0.5 ppm before you leave for Thanksgiving.

Wow I just read this entire thread. Thank you everyone that has been helping him with the fish. Everyone hopes your knowledge will be passed on to other reef keepers and in return keep this hobby parasite free!
It would be so much easier if people would teach the fish exactly what their symptoms should look like for each illness.

It would be even easier if people could tell the fish to never get sick in the first place. LOL [emoji23] The hard part is getting the fish to listen.

Update this morning. His eye and fin are much more clear. The eye is almost completely clear and the fin is about 90% better. He ate this morning, but not nearly as aggressively as yesterday. I think the quick rise in cupramine is definitely suppressing his appetite. I finished getting copper up to level and dosed another around of kanaplex this morning before leaving. I have an airstone and hob filter going. The twitching has gone down dramatically since yesterday.

@Ross Keep pounding that infection with the antibiotics, don't let up. 10 continuous days minimum. You might also do a water change or two within the next week, just to get some of the excess meds out. Just remember to treat any replacement water with Cupramine before dumping it in.

As far as the appetite suppression goes, so long as he's still eating (even a little) you are OK. However, if he stops eating completely you've got a problem.

That is fantastic!

Update for those following

I came home from Thanksgiving this afternoon and he is looking GREAT. Both his fin and eye are completely clear. He ate aggressively and was actually out crusing the tank picking off the bottom. Breathing rate is normal and no twitching in the time I was watching. I added another dose of kanaplex, tested copper level and added a little more copper. I will do one more dose of kanaplex in 2 days, then assuming everything is still on track hold with the copper for a few weeks.

That's awesome!! Don't get too relaxed as many things can crop up at this point, but I'm glad he's doing better. That's amazing :D

Hey he's look'n good. Is that a little HLLE popping up there? Hard to tell from the video, but if it is, I wouldn't worry about it until he's in the display. You can do wonders for that with proper nutrition and good water quality.

Yes he is looking much better. It does appear he has just a tiny bit of HLLE but right now I'm not concerned with that. He's already eating rods food, nori, and pellets so it should go away.

Congrats man! Those near death battles are stressful. Glad the purp held it together.

I'm usually not as active on here as my local thread but I can surely say that it was amazing to read through this thread and see everyone come together and help save a fish in need. What an amazing display of community and camaraderie!
