Tiny purple tangs, yellow tangs, and both types of sailfins are pretty fragile. That said, purple are the hardiest zebrasoma tang IMO and you'll have better luck with a small purple tang than the others. They're more susceptible to disease at that size. Once 2.5" they're as hardy as any 5-8" IMO.

I prefer small purple tangs they're prettier. They tend to look a little less flashy and darken with age. I have a 5" right now, I would happily trade for an established little fella

My LFS has 4 purple tangs about the size of a quarter for $199 which is what i paid for my med size one from the same store. crazy right?

Wow, I got totally lucky then. I wasn't even looking for one and my buddy gives me his free because his wife wants to do seahorses instead.

Those little guys are insanely expensive!

I haven't seen any LFS selling clarion. But for personifer and scribbled, They usually go for $350 and up but we can occasionally get them on special for $200. The problem is more on the availability side.

The collector must have caught hundreds of these, this size. I see them in every store now. My store had 5. I bought one for $80.

Got this tiny one a little bigger than a quarter two days ago paid $200. They had 5 of them there same size, all sold waiting for been picked up.

$80? Where do you live? I live in NH ,and they are not cheap here
