I have had a taylors purple tree coral for at least 6 months. I got it when I bought some live rock from someone who was parting out a tank. The thing has doubked in size and within the last two weeks the top fell off it. It was still all nice and open and even the part that fell off was open still so I placed it in the rocks and both peices Are still living. I'm noticing its got several branches thay are pinching now. Is that normal? What's going on?

Yes, Kenya Trees are known to drop branches like that. It can be from stress but can occur normally too. If all of your water parameters are good and the rest of the tank is healthy then I wouldn't worry about it. I would do a full range of tests to make sure nothing is out of line though.

Yup everything is well in its paramiters. I do testing quite often. I also use reef fusion steps 1&2 every other day. Everyone else seems quite happy.

Then your on the normal side of things, and they can and will populate a tank fast.

A lot of the Sarcophytons are also self fragging. It's pretty cool to watch when you know it is happening (takes days or weeks).
