I've been using kent purple tech for about a week now. Do I need to shut of my filter when I add the purple tech or it doesn't matter? Who else have used it were you happy with the results? How long until coroline starts to grow?

You must have some form of Coralline already present in the tank in order for it to grow. With this product your only adding extra's of what's already in your salt mix. Hopefully your testing those levels.
Personally I'd stop using it. Find a piece of coralline covered rock at your LFS and seed your tank that way.

I have some coraline that came with my live rock. It was in an established tank for 2 years. Also have some snail from my lfs that has coralline. I have pictures... is that enough to seed the tank? I have my tank running for about 3 1/2 months.. how fast does it suppose to spered? I havent seen any growth

Yep. If it's present at all, it's only a matter of time.
It took me a while before it started to take off for me. YMMV, but just keep up with the normal husbandry and it will show up in no time. Someday, you'll look back to this thread and after scraping it from the corners of your glass and laugh laugh laugh.
Another thing that helps, is scrape some of the coralline in front of a powerhead. It will help it spread out.

Coralline algae is just a waste of alk in the tank

Ill return the bottle of purple tech and get a test kit for alkaline, calcium ect. And keep it on point. Dont have corals yet, but ive seen some tanks with coralline and corals and it looks fantastic. so many things I still need to get.. I need another power head I have poop in my sand bed
