Hello - I just joined and was wondering if I could get some advice on my 55-gallon reef tank. I bought a purple tip anemone 3 weeks ago mated with a clown. It did amazing for 2 weeks or so. I looked up how to set my lights on brstv and think I did it right. However, about 4 days ago it moved to a very dark spot inside of a cavern. I've attached pics of my light setting and water chemistry numbers I try to maintain. I've checked with a flashlight the last few days and it does not appear to be shrunken and the clowns are happy in it. My reseller said they have a mind of their own and move occasionally but I thought I would check here. I have two powerheads but they are not in any way blasting it and are a very light flow where it is at. But I could turn them off and/or adjust the lighting if you think I should. Thank you very much

+1

I’be had my BTA for about a month now and she’s moved all over the place, finally settled down but then wanted more blue light so she actually started moving again a few days ago

You changed your lights. It moved. They will do this typically to re-acclimate. What’s best is to NOT TOUCH YOUR LIGHTS again.

I know nothing of your tank so it is possible that it is sick or slowly dying but the best you can do is keep things stable and wait.

Changing lights and flow will definatly make them move.
It could hide in that cave for a few days so don't worry. They sometimes will stretch out for the light and keep the foot in the cave.

My anemone is still under all of the rocks and its size looks healthy (15 days). Since mine likes it very dark, I wondered if I should tone my lights down in order to get it out where it can be seen. Please let me know

Anemones will typically self-acclimate to bright lighting, but 15 days does seem a bit excessive. I would give it another week or two with your current lighting but after that, maybe cut back a bit on the intensity.
