Thinking of picking up this coral from a LFS but was just curious if these are difficult to keep. The phosphates are quite high in my tank ( > .1 or so). nitrates are around 15 - 20. I have bubbles tip anemones, mushrooms and leathers doing very well and had this tank running for about 3 + years now. I am dosing carbocalcium and magnesium. Alk 8, cal 450 - 470, magnesium 1250 - 1350.

I did read that they should be fed daily? is this true? I guess that can become a pain :-)

I have 2 and never feed them directly. I do broadcast feed my entire tank every day, but have never directly fed them.

Pretty easy coral all in all. If it has a conical base place it in your sandbed with the polyp just laying on the sandbed. That's where they are typically found in the wild.

Thanks! yea, I ended up picking one up ... fairly large. when completely open it is at least 6" round. I do feed a large piece of shrimp daily... I also broadcast feed every other day using reefroid. so far it is doing good. I did place way down on the bottom of tank, so par is low and also lower flow.

They can be challenge, the Australia version Is reported to be more hardier.
I gave up after a few years, it’s the only coral I cannot seem to keep...tried 3 times...6 months....gone.
That, and Stars, just can’t seem to do what want....
