I was told hat purple leds are good for corals if u have lights with a few mixed in. Is this true? Also I saw someone who was running straight purple uv lights for 1-2 hours every day to help their tank. If uv sterilizers kill unwanted things in tank wouldnt this be a better solution?

I have uv lights on my diy led light, And corals doing great and make your corals look just unbelievble. forget to mention awsome growth im getting.

Curious what you call purple UV? Right now I'm looking at changing some leds in an old fixture I have. Either 395nm or 420nm seems to be what they refer to as UV. After that the leds go to 450nm and 480nm and they are more deep blue or sky blue.

I thought the UV leds were really near UV.

After looking it up, UV runs from 200nm thru 400nm. With near UV in the 300-400 range and far UV in the 200-300 range. All of UV-a and part of UV-b cover the near UV range.
