My huge, 4 year old purple vase sponge has gotten a little too big for my liking (~18" in diameter) so I chopped it. I have at least 4, approximately 5-6" by 2-3" pieces for sale, they are smooth and also have vase like projections and ripples in them.

These pieces are cuts from my mother colony and therefore are not round like a vase. You can easily get them to grow into a vase however by mounting them twisted into a circle and the two ends will grow together seamlessly eventually filling out into a vase shape.

It has been in my seahorse tank for the entire 4 years and is still growing rapidly. It loves my ~4 year old compact fluorescent stock biocube bulbs and the minimal minimal flow of the seahorse tank. It is hardy and has never had any problems with any parameter swings or temperature swings. Although I have accidentally removed frags of this type of sponge from the water before with no issues I do not recommend exposing it to air for more than a few seconds just to be safe.

Remember it is photosynthetic!

$50 per piece

Shipping is available and the method will be up to the buyer. I can ship UPS 2-day (no guarantee) or UPS Overnight with guarantee if DOA and picture sent within one hour delivery. Pale color is normal and the sponge will recover, DOA means falling apart. I can calculate shipping based on your zip.

This is an old pic of the mother colony:

Nice one. We grow a lot of it and have found it remarkably tolerant to air exposure. I've had frags out of water for several minutes while glueing. Nice to see such an old specimen. I've had several crash spontaneously (unrelated to air exposure), so I keep a colony growing in just about every tank.

I would like a big frag please. 56304 is my Zip, please get back to me on total and your paypal address.

Thank you

My sponge has arrived and looks great! Thank you!

Sponge is turning blue under my 50W LED. Great stuff, And I'm surprised it's still not sold out. I fragged off a few chunks from my mini colony and actually turned a small profit selling it at my club's Frag Swap.
