purple water in skimmer

hey all. so today i emptied my skimmer waste and noticed that the thing was full of grape koolaid colored water. it was normal when i emptied it 3 days ago.. completely baffled. i have 2 sea hares, 3 anemones, 2 peppermint shrimp , and 2 seahorses. any help is greatly appreciated

More than likely something scared a seahare and it inked. Had it happen before and skimmer looked same way.
 
i guess i thought i read somewhere that it would be harmful or deadly to other tank mates.. ?is that not the case i guess? thanks for your response
 
Sea Hare can release purple dye, I saw it few times while scuba diving.
It's a good think that it got at least partially removed by a skimmer.

It can be, but depends on how much released and how much water volume you have. I had a wrasse harass mine in my macro tank I had set up and it inked a little bit to scare it off. Nothing affected with it doing it and water volume was about 120 gallons. I do run carbon all the time, so could have helped, as well.
